The Fumiable Engineering System

Controlled material behavior for regulated commodity trade

Fumiable is engineered to control gas permeability, moisture exchange, and structural integrity at the packaging level.

Instead of adapting treatment protocols around sack limitations, the Fumiable system redesigns the sack to meet modern operational and regulatory requirements.

Technology Overview

Fumiable® Engineered Predictability | Certainty by Design

Permeability Optimized

Fumiable® is engineered to enable controlled moisture exchange. The woven structure allows excess internal moisture to dissipate, reducing condensation risk and limiting conditions that promote mould growth or quality degradation. At the same time, the fabric permits gradual equilibrium with external environmental conditions, reducing thermal and moisture gradients that can accelerate deterioration during storage and transit. Crucially, the open-weave architecture supports uniform fumigant diffusion. The interstitial void structure allows gas molecules to penetrate and circulate through stacked units without requiring secondary perforation or liner removal.

This enables:

• More predictable fumigant concentration profiles within palletized or containerized loads.
• Reduced risk of gas shadowing or localized underexposure.
• Improved compatibility with sulfuryl fluoride or other approved fumigants.
• Elimination of vapor-barrier obstruction commonly associated with laminated or coated sacks.

High Strength / Slip Resistance

Fumiable® is constructed from high-tenacity polypropylene yarns woven into a load-bearing matrix. The result is a fabric capable of withstanding rugged handling, stacking pressure, and mechanical stress without compromise.

Despite its porosity, the fabric maintains structural conformity to the commodity profile. The textured yarn surface enhances inter-bag friction, improving stack stability during warehousing and container transport.

The mechanical strength allows handling protocols consistent with traditional woven sacks, including stacking with metal props or standard warehouse systems without requiring operational modification.

Non-toxic Mono-material construction

Fumiable® is manufactured entirely from polypropylene. Its functional characteristics arise from engineered weave geometry rather than chemical additives.

The mono-material design eliminates concerns associated with natural fibers or compounded additives. No secondary strengthening agents, mineral oil contaminants, or hybrid fiber blends are required to achieve performance.

Material purity supports regulatory-sensitive export applications where contamination control is critical.

Flexibility in Design

Fumiable® is a configurable woven technology platform rather than a fixed-format bag.

It can be produced in conventional 65kg sack formats for cocoa and coffee, or scaled to larger formats such as 1,000 kg FIBC systems. The weave density can be engineered (e.g., 8×8, 8×9, 9×9, 10×10) to match commodity characteristics and fumigation requirements.

Structural parameters are adjustable based on application, allowing permeability, strength, and load performance to be tuned without altering the core material.
